Mexigo

While writing this, I’m also eating some Apple Jacks. So sweet, but very more-ish. I found this box at Mexigo, a Mexican-American supermarket/deli in Ixelles.

The shop has been there for about a year. I never noticed it before though, as it’s rather tucked away in a residential area behind the Ixelles cemetery. Very much worth the trip over there, as I didn’t know we had such a shop in Brussels.

The first part of the shop sells ready made empanadas, tortillas and the like. The fridge behind the counter stores the salsas as well as the Mexican beer and the American lemonades such as Mountain Dew.

The rest of the shop has shelves packed with Mexican beans, rice, spicy sauces, wine and more. The shelves at the back of the shop gather some American food. Bright breakfast cereal, instant cake mixes and spreads, all sorts of dressings and BBQ sauces …

I just couldn’t resist that big box of Apple Jacks. The Fruit Loops (which were once sold in Belgium, but no longer) were out of stock. I also picked up a bag of peanut butter drops, to add to cookies etc. The offer in US items changes every month, so I might go back in a couple of weeks to check out what’s new. Sugar rush!

47 Rue François Dons, open from Tuesday until Saturday, between 11.45-20.00
