Moka
Coffee. I really like coffee. Correction, I really like good coffee. And Moka in the centre is a charming place to get a little caffeine boost. The retro coffee maker (as seen on the pic) is a master at brewing the perfect cuppa.
Firstly, Moka looks really nice. Not that looks are everything, but the coffee place could be the scene for some old movie. Little tiles against the walls, cute wooden tables and chairs, and the ongoing sound of the coffee-grinder. Only the light coming from the customers’ laptops gives away this is a bar of the 21st century.
Strong coffee, cappuccinos (with milk or soy milk), flavoured lattes, cold coffees, Italian ones with some booze, there’s nothing the big coffee maker can’t handle. Except the other part of the drinks menu, which features Bellini, limoncello, wine, spritz and many more other Italian apéros.
If only this bar were closer to home… rather than ‘on the way to the bus ride home’. If only!
5 Rue des Riches Claires, Open every day but Sunday and Monday, open all the other days between 11.30-22.00 (>19.30 on Tuesdays)

Good Morning,
thanks for the recommendation it seems like a wonderful little place, sort of a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the centre. I would pass by there soon…
I was wondering whether you have tried blomqvists in st. boniface, its been recently re-opened under new management and i go there often to read a book and enjoy the coffee.
all the best,
nas.
Hi Nas
Yes, I’ve tried Blomqvists before. Loved their big red coffee machine
There’s a post on the blog about it too. I’ve gathered all my favourite coffee spots here http://www.bruxelleslabelle.com/?cat=23
Thanks for reading!
Bruxelles la Belle
Hi la Belle,
Moka is fantastic indeed. Don’t miss some other good cappucinos/espresso in :
- Charlie, St-Anna Straat
- Maison Renardy chaussée de Wavre 111
- good espresso – at Cafe OR (new place) Ortsstraat – close to Bourse, behind Marriot hotel
- Natural Caffee (close to Schuman)
and Caffeenation in Antwerp.
All the best!
Greg
Thanks for your suggestions, Greg. Some of them already made it to my coffee list, others I will have to check out soon.
