Pistolet Original

Posted by Bruxelles la Belle on December 20, 2013 in City Centre, Coffee, Drink, Eat, Sunday

The ‘pistolet’ used to be quite the hero of many bakeries. A small round bun, crisp on the outside and very light and fluffy inside. It has lost some popularity over the years (to the bigger baguette), but there’s a new eatery at Sablon, keen to restore the pistolet in all its glory.

John & Rose is an art café on Rue de Flandre: a very spacious place with art on the walls and a lovely food and drinks menu.

Gazzetta

This small Italian deli is tucked away behind Avenue Louise, but well worth looking for. Coffee, Italian pastry, wine and simple food .. molto bene!

L’Amour Fou

Posted by Bruxelles la Belle on November 27, 2013 in Burgers, Drink, Eat, Ixelles, Sunday

I met Luigi at L’Amour Fou and I really liked him … errrr, it. Luigi is one of the many burgers on the menu (with spinach, feta cheese and nuts). It came with sweet potato chips and crunchy coleslaw.

Färm

I like to eat healthily and know where my food came from. I buy organic when I can, as local as possible and avoid ready-made food full of preservatives. So when I heard of a new, big organic supermaket, right in the city centre, I planned a visit as soon as I could.

AUB.SVP

Posted by Bruxelles la Belle on October 27, 2013 in City Centre, Coffee, Drink, Eat

Located in the entrance hall of a former movie theatre, this small eatery is a true gem. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon and after-work treats like you haven’t seen before (or at least, not in Brussels).

Garage à Manger

Posted by Bruxelles la Belle on October 21, 2013 in Coffee, Drink, Eat, Ixelles, Sunday

Garage à Manger is a new eatery, located in the old Mazda garage in Ixelles. It’s connected to second-hand book shop Pêle-Mêle on Chaussée de Waterloo as well. Books and healthy food, what’s not to like?

Kis Mad

Posted by Bruxelles la Belle on October 15, 2013 in Eat, Ixelles, Saint-Gilles, Sunday

I’m not the best cook in the world. But I love to spend time in the kitchen, browse the web and books for recipes and visit shops for unusual ingredients. Kis Mad was on my radar for a while, and now I finally visited the shop.

Hard Rock Café

Posted by Bruxelles la Belle on October 6, 2013 in Burgers, City Centre, Drink, Eat, Sunday

Every now and then you need a break. And some good friends, comfort food and cocktails to forget about everything else. Hard Rock Café on Grand Place turned out to be the perfect place for all the above. (Yes, we did feel like tourists, but that’s part of the experience).

Il Gelato

Posted by Bruxelles la Belle on September 21, 2013 in Anderlecht, Eat, Sunday, Uccle, Woluwé-St-Lambert

People in Uccle are spoilt for choice when it comes to ice cream flavours. And down Rue Vanderkindere, Glacier Zizi and Il Gelato are stiff competitors. When one day, the queue at Zizi really was way too long, I joined the shorter queue at Il Gelato.
