The Sol Ar Store

When I heard about this Portuguese concept store, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. Local delights? Art? Souvenirs? Little did I know the place stored a fabulous wine collection as well as many other treats.

Owner Patricia is on a mission to introduce her homeland’s finest produce on the Belgian market. No sardines or olive oil, but contemporary top products by upcoming brands.

One of the main items in the shop is wine. The vineyards in Portugal see a lot a sun, and produce great wine that is very little known. Not that I’m such a connoisseur, but I did bring home two bottles and loved every drop of them. You can also drink some wine at the shop, on Wednesday evening, accompanied by some cheese and cured meats, and a concert.

Also available, spices and salt, jams (I got a tomato one) and tea – did you know Portugal is the only European country producing its own tea, in the Azores?

I loved the table with cosmetics, including a few blocks of soap, lotions and bath salt by Claus Porto. Not only do these products look amazing, they smell  great too. The brand has been around for years, and you can find in fancy cosmetic shops … and at The Sol Ar Store. I’ll definitely pop in again, when I’m in the area next.

70 Rue du Page, open from Monday until Saturday, between 11.00-20.00
