Hotel Surplus Discount
We’ve recently moved house and I’m looking everywhere to find inspiration for the new home. On a stroll through Uccle, I couldn’t resist a quick pop-in in Hotel Surplus Discount, a furniture shop selling new and second hand hotel items.
L’Atelier des Marquises
Close to Place Wiener in Watermael-Boitsfort, a new antiques/vintage shop just opened its doors. It might be quite a trek to get there, but the choice, great prices and super friendly owners make more than up for that.
House of Wunders
Curiosity shops are popping up in Brussels. There’s La Meute in Ixelles for instance, and now the city centre has it own shop of wonders too. In the old, renovated fire brigade on Place du Jeu de Balle, House of Wunders stores all sorts of mineral fossils, coral, fossilised wood etc.
Peinture Fraîche
I love book shops, for both reading material (novels in my case) and inspiration (coffee book tables): the smell of paper, the silence of people browsing the racks and the excitement when you’ve found what you were looking for…
Courrier Sud
I can’t believe this shop wasn’t on the blog yet. It’s been one of my favourite shops to browse for as long as I can remember: silver rings, necklaces, lamps and more. Courrier Sud always smells of incense sticks too, so once inside, you can easily forget you’re in the centre of Brussels.
M32
Remember that shop called EM72 on Rue du Page? It sold jewellery, clothes and shoes by lesser known brands, but closed down a while a go. One of the owners started with something new, close to Place Brugmann: M32.
Laura Ashley
Hidden halfway down Rue de Namur, you’ll find home interior shop Laura Ashley. So English and flower-y, it hurts. But I love it. And secretly wish I could have a cup of tea in their comfy sofas.
La Meute
When I heard a curiosity shop opened in the Chatelain area, I had to check it out. After ringing the doorbell, I was allowed access to La Meute. The interior is dark and the objects on display are quite unusual. A-mazing!
MLM shop
Museum shops are an excellent spot when you’re looking for presents. The one of the Musée des Lettres et des Manuscrits in the Galerie du Roi is perfect for gifts for family or friends, who write and think a lot.
Christmas deco shopping
Tis the season to be jolly … and to get your home Christmas proof. Here are my favourite deco shops to find the best Christmas accessories.
