BAKE

Posted by Bruxelles la Belle on November 25, 2014 in Eat, Saint-Gilles

BAKE is a small baking business run by Bérangère. She specialises in all things American (cookies, brownies and cakes, yum). And while she has no shop of her own, she sells her bakes at some of the city’s best coffee spots. And … she made bake-your-own cookie boxes, which I tried, tasted and loved!

Forcado

Biting into one of Forcado’s ‘pastel de nata’ was one of the tastiest experiences ever. Sweet, creamy, crusty … it put a big smile on my face! This delicious custard tart is available from the Portuguese bakery on Chaussée de Charleroi.

Bocca Moka

I’ve been meaning to post a review on Bocca Moka for ages, but somehow I never got around to it. This new-ish coffee bar deserves all the attention, as the brews (and the cakes) are delicious.

New eateries keep on opening on Chaussée de Charleroi, which is great! King Kong settled down a couple of weeks ago, a Peruvian snack bar with a stunning decor.

Kis Mad

I’m not the best cook in the world. But I love to spend time in the kitchen, browse the web and books for recipes and visit shops for unusual ingredients. Kis Mad was on my radar for a while, and now I finally visited the shop.

För

För just opened near the Trinity Church on Rue du Bailli. From what I heard and saw on social media, I expected it to be another concept store. But when I visited the place, I discovered it was small, full of charisma and with a lovely selection of clothes, accessories and furniture.

Eric Beauduin

Posted by Bruxelles la Belle on May 26, 2013 in Clothes, Saint-Gilles

I must have walked passed Eric Beauduin’s atelier a hundred of times. His tag line ‘recycling second hand clothes’ intrigued me, but I couldn’t quite figure out what he was doing. Until a couple of weeks ago, when there was light coming from the windows as he’d turned part of his atelier into a shop. […]

This family-run business is a must-visit if you love Lebanese food. The choice, the taste, the service, Orientalia is an amazing deli for take-outs, but you can eat on the spot as well.

Posted by Bruxelles la Belle on March 25, 2013 in Drink, Eat, Saint-Gilles, Sunday

La Porteuse d’Eau (the water carrier) is an Art Nouveau brasserie in Saint-Gilles. Sit down in the pretty interior with stained glass windows and enjoy a plate of good Belgian food together with one of the many beers on the menu.
